Faith gets you through things; not around them.

December 4, 2009

Nothing makes me angrier than when people say if you have enough faith you won’t ever be lonely or depressed. If you believe in God and trust him, you’ll not ever be afraid or question things.

Faith gets you through things; not around them. Believing in God and trying to do good isn’t a get-out-of-jail-free card. Jesus said “In this world you will have troubles.” He wasn’t going to lie to anybody. He isn’t offering a life of prosperity, ease, or safety. He’s just offering to be the lamp unto your feet so you can avoid stepping on as many rusty nails as possible on the way to our final destination. He’s offering truth and understanding, if you look for it. He’s offering forgiveness for the way the world is– for your part in making it craptastic, for staying silent in the face of injustice, for not being able to fix everything. And hope, too.

Just the way I see things.
